Yuval Ne'eman (born 1925), Israeli theoretical physicist. In 1960, almost simultaneously with Murray Gell-Mann, he independently worked out a method for grouping subatomic particles into \families\". Gell-Mann called this method the Eightfold Way. The method was used in 1962 to predict the existence of the omega minus particle, which was discovered in 1964. The photograph of Ne'eman was taken in 1966. Ne'eman has been head of the physics department at Tel Aviv University since 1963."
