The Lord Mayor’s Day 2014 starts with the river pageant, a journey on the river Thames setting off near Westminster Bridge and traveling downriver to pass through Tower Bridge. The modern Lord Mayor celebrates the tradition by traveling to the City in a flotilla of traditional Thames barges and small boats, including the famous QRB Gloriana, the boat which led the flotilla during the Queen’s Jubilee parade) — rowed this year by Simon, Jeremy and Harry McCarthy and other Alan Yarrow, the 687th Lord Mayor of the City of London, starting his day with the river pageant, a journey on the river Thames setting off near Westminster Bridge and traveling downriver to pass through Tower Bridge.
