The range of disease frequency in hauls containing cod with tumors was percent. Analyses of the biological characteristics of tumor- bearing cod from the Bering Sea showed that about the same number of males as females had tumors. The age composition of cod with tumors was dif- ferent from that of normal cod ('normal,' here and for the other species described in this report, means those apparently healthy animals captured, speciated, sexed, measured, and, when possible, aged in 1975 or 1976 by the RACE Division and by us). Normal cod ranged in age from one to five years, while no tumor- bearing cod were less than two years old. In addition.
