The rapid development of aeroplaneconstruction in this country opened upmuch work in the welding and cutting- task of pushing on the Governmentstandard and other mercantile vesselswhich are in hand. These efforts aremeeting with success, and the output ofmerchant tonnage is steadily increasing,but it has only been achieved by themost careful arrangements and the com-bined co-operation of all concerned—the. GROUP OF PUPILS RECEIVING PRACTICAL TRAINING IN CUTTING, WELDING AND BUILDING UP AEROPLANE PARTS. line which was particularly suited to theemployment of women workers. Of com-paratively small dimensions, and lightweight, and, from their very nature, ne-cessitating the utmost reliability ofmanufacture, the parts required are nowbeing satisfactorily made by locallytrained female operators.
