Spain, Extremadura, province of Caceres, Valencia de Alcántara. View of the castle, which dates from the 13th century with an initial layout of Arab origin. It was taken from the Muslims in 1220 by García Sánchez, Master of the Order of Alcántara. Later King Alfonso IX donated it to the Order, to which the fortress belonged until 1574. In the 17th and 18th centuries it was remodelled several times.
