He was living in Tappan, OrangeCounty (now Rockland County), New York, as early as1727. October 13, 1727, Hendrick Snyder and JohannesSnyder were received by letter into the Tappan DutchReformed Church. In 1738 Haverstraw had 654 inhabitants; in 1790 it had 4,826, On March 18, 1791, Clarkstown was separated from Haverstraw. In 1775 Haverstraw Precinct embraced the present towns of Ramapo,Clarkstown, Stoney Point and Haverstraw. The First Reformed Protestant Church of New Hempstead was organizedin 1749, and in 1752 an edifice was erected in Clarkstown, New building stood
