Miquel Ramoneda, a young man of twenty-two, was the owner of a factory in the village of Sant Quintí de Mediona (province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain). On 17 July 1842, he was kidnapped by a group of criminals led by "en Jaume" and "en Salat", known as "Nas". Antoni Sabater, one of the people who accompanied Ramoneda, was in collusion with the assailants, mediating with the family to ask for a ransom.
