Illustrations were given explain-ing these resemblances, and showing the debased head of other nations, — of the French head,which bore a strong likeness to the gorilla; of the Irish head, which, in its highest develop-ment, affords some of the finest examples of the purely human type; and of the Aztec head asfound on ancient monuments, which appeared to be sui generis, differing in its depravity fromany other given type.
