Wilson. KOLHAPUR With Mr. and Mrs. Simpsons return in November, the Sta-tion had its full strength. EVANGELISTIC—The church in Kolhapur has had a suc-cessful year. A new Board of Deacons, with our bestyoung men elected to this office, has caused a distinct ad-vance. Under their leadership, the church has undertaken alittle more financial responsibility. It has secured an increase inthe pastors salary of nearly 20 per cent. The church at Vad-gav has made progress also. The pastor of the church writesa very interesting report, from which one extract is quoted: 230. WESTERN INDIA—KOLHAPUR 231 The spiritual condition of the church is satisfactory. Good spirithas prevailed throughout the year in the church services, and I thinka steady progress has been made in the knowledge and grace of had also occasions of deep humility and mourning for the scan-dalous and sinful behavior of some of our young and inexperiencedmembers who were led astray by some rogues. A Mohammedan policesepoy in the state service was baptized and received to full communionon his confession of faith in Christ after due probation. The church loaned the service of their pastor for the evan-gelistic campaign, thus showing their interest in the work atlarge. The Boys School among the Marathas has had an unusuallylarge attendance the past year and the boys have made goodprogress with a good percentage of passes in the annual ex-a
