The Castleton Garland is a surviving form of the "Green man" figure which represents the growth of crops and all living things in the new season. Also celebration of the Restoration of Charles 11 on the 29th May 1660,when oak was worn on account of the King's escape after the battle of Worcester by hiding in an oak King riding a round the village on thier way to the first pub.
