Clovis or Clovis I (ca. 466-511). King of the Salian Franks from 481 to 509. He was crowned king of all the Franks ca. 509. Son of Childeric I. Following his marriage to Princess Clotilde, a Christian princess daughter of the King of the Burgundians, he converted to Catholicism and was baptised in Rheims, according to tradition, by Saint Remigius on 25 December 496.
