The National Monument, Vitkov Hill, Equestrian bronze statue of Jan Zizka, Hussite leader, Zizkov, Czech Republic


The National Monument on top of the Žižkov Vítkov hill. The equestrian statue of Jan Žižka, the third largest bronze equestrian statue in the world, in honor of Jan Žižka, who at this hill defeated Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, in 1420. Between 1954-1962 the mausoleum of Klement Gottwald ( first communist president ) was placed there. Below the statue is located the tomb of the Unknown Soldier
