The side crank construction of thetwin tandem arrangement permits the support of the shaftwith but two points for alignment, while the main bearingsare so constructed that shells may be removed without dis-turbing the crank shaft. The automatic compressed airstarting system used is controlled by one valve, which con-tinues in operation until all igniters are working. Auto-matic safety stops are provifled against overspeed or lossof cooling water. All parts on both levels may easily be reached, platforms jacket.
