Bressanone, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. Colourful ceiling fresco in the cathedral cloister.

Bressanone, also known as Brixen, is a city and administrative district in the province of Bolzano and lies at the confluence of the Rivers Isarco and Rienza. It was annexed to Italy at the end of the First World War and 70% of the population still speak German as their first language. After many years' work, the Gothic frescoes in the cloister of the city's 18th century Baroque cathedral have been restored to their former glory. Dating from the 14th to the 16th century, they rank among the finest works of art in South Tyrol.
