View E of St Clydog's (Clydawg's) Church & graveyard, Clodock, Herefordshire, England, UK. Traditionally founded around AD520 as the burial place of murdered British King St Clydawg. Oxen drawing his body on a cart refused to move after their yoke broke while crossing the local ford on the River Monnow, so a church & shrine were built a little N upstream. Miracles occurred at his tomb. Clydawg was king of Ewias (Ewyas) & a grandson of Brychan, King of Brecon. The present nave is C12th, the chancel C13th, the W tower C15th; it is built of red sandstone with three stages & an embattled parapet.
