This image may not be used to state or imply NOAA endorsement of any company or product Source of the Gulf Stream. Computer image showing sea surface temperatures in the region around the Florida Peninsula, USA. The temperatures are colour coded, from grey and dark blue (0-2 Celsius) through light blue, green, yellow and orange to red (22-26 Celsius). Florida is the blue area just left of centre, shown due to its extensive surface water. At bottom left is the Gulf of Mexico, with large-scale eddy patterns visible. The swath of water moving eastward (yellow, centre right) is the Gulf Stream, which eventually finds its way to the British Isles. The image was gathered by the NOAA 11 satellite in January 1994.
