MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Oct. 15, 2014) -- The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) is underway in the 6th Fleet area of operations as seen from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19). Mesa Verde, part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, is conducting naval operations in the 6th Fleet area of operations in support of national security interests in Europe.
