The sound was heardby 78 per cent, of the observers, and was generally compared withthe fall of a heavy body or with an explosion. From the rapiddecline in intensity of the shock outwards from Menstrie, it followsthat the focus was situated at a slight depth and that the epicentrewas close to Menstrie. (30) 1906, December 29th, A slight shock, accompanied by a noise like the fall of a heavjrbody, was felt at Airthrey.
