In July, 1906, the growth of the executivework of the Board and the need of organization of the educa-tional work over a number of schools became so heavy that aSuperintendent was appointed. His duties in the beginningwere of a rather mixed character. In addition to the super-vision of teaching work and the organization of classes, he waspurchasing agent for the Board and superintended the fittingand repair of buildings. From this office there has since devel-oped the office of supply commissioner attached to that
