Just as the market was showing signs of easing up somewhat, another cold wave came along, checked the stock and caused the market to become tighter than it was a fortnight ago. Roses still are on the short side of the market. The same is true of carnations. Easter lilies meet with a ready sale. Bulbous stock is more plentiful and is proving good property. Sweet peas sell well. Valley, violets and orchids are in fair supply but meet with, an ordinary demand, having competition in good primroses, callas, rubrum lilies, baby roses, snapdragons and forget-me-nots. Greens are plentiful. Various Notes. The regular meeting of the Cincinnati Florists' Society will be held Monday, February 12, at Hotel Gibson. C. E. Critchell, February 3, entertained Mr. and Mrs. Herman Knoble, of Cleve- land, and Mr. and Mrs. William Nich- olson, of Boston, at his home in Rose Hill. Mr. Critchell regrets that the weather was so inclement that he was unable to drive around "and show his guests some of the beautiful places and scenes in and about this city. The William Murphy Co. last week got in its first Dutch hyacinth stock of the year. This item sold readily. P. J. dinger returned to his green- houses at Newcastle, Ind., February 5. L. H. Kyrk has been receiving good quantities of long-stemmed Purity free- sias from William Taylor. E. L. Stephany has purchased the Oak- ley Flower Shop, succeeding Mrs. Charles Walton.
