Captain Kendall Ignatz, Headquarters Company commanding officer, slices the firt piece of birthday cake which will be given to the oldest Marine present during the 242nd Marine Corps Birthday Cake-cutting ceremony held at the Veterans Home of California-Barstow, Nov. 7. THe oldest Marine present was 97-year-old Dean Smith who served the Corps during World War II.
