THE SPLEEN. Enlargement of the Spleen. Acute Enlargement. Enlargement of the spleen may be acute orchronic. Acute enlargement occurs in certain infectious diseases, par-ticularly typhoid fever, typhus, smallpox, relapsing fever, scarlet fever,diphtheria, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, the malarial fevers and PLATE XLV.
