A dog wades towards a marabou stock on land submerged by the rising water levels of Lake Nakuru. Heavy rainfall in Nakuru and the upper catchment areas of the Mau Forest has caused the water levels of Lake Nakuru to rise once again after gradually receding the last two years. Over the past decade, the increased flow of freshwater into this previously alkaline lake has altered its water chemistry, now supporting freshwater fish populations likely introduced through surface runoff from upstream private farms.
