Eviction of squatters from Ducie Bridge public house putting homeless back on the streets. Aound 30 homeless roughsleepers were evicted by High Court Enforcement Officers with the help from Manchester police after a judge granted the owners, the Cooperative Society, possession of their building. The homeless people collected their belongings and moved onto a patch of grass outside the Coop offices opposite on Miller Street where they were brutaly removed by Coop security the following day. Chris Blaine held a rooftop protest from 08:15 when the bailiffs arrived through to 19:00 hrs. when he came down and was immediately arrested. The following day he was sentenced to 8 weeks in jail for `resisting a court officer executing a process to repossess'.
