Protest demonstration after the murder of Film director Theo Van Gogh by a Muslim fanatic. Dam Square, Asterdam, Netherlands.


On the morning of 2 November 2004 the controversial Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh was murdered by an Islamic extremist as a result of his outspoken views on Islam and his film "Submission". On the same evening a large demonstration took place on Dam Square in Amsterdam, protesting against Islamic terrorism. The murder led to a period of tension between Dutch and Muslims and Mosques and Churches were burned and vandalised.
