His connectionwith this Conference dates from 1884,when he came recommended by the R. Conference. He was pastor ofMarkle, Rock Creek and North Man-chester and did much evangelisticwork. In 1888 he withdrew from EelRiver Conference and is now a mem-ber of a Michigan Conference, residingat Grand Rapids. REV. JOSEPH ROBERTS United with Eel River Conference in1845. He resided at Waterford, Ind.,for a time, preaching regularly and re-porting until 1852 when he emigratedwestward and has since deceased. Hewas the father of James Atchisonsfirst wife. REV. SQUIRE ROBINSON United with Conference at a calledsession held in Wakarusa, May, reported at the next session andsince then no record of his work isfound. MINISTERS OF EEL RIVER CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE 95. REV. JACOB M. RITTGERS Was born in Hocking count}-, Ohio,February 7, 1847. He grew up on afarm until, on his fifteenth birthday,Februar} 7, 1862, when he offered hisservices to his country and enlisted asa volunteer in Company P, SecondOhio Heavy Artillery, being attachedto the Army of the Cumberland in thefamous march to the sea. He remainedin the service until the close of thewar. Returning home in the fall of1865 he at once entered the high schoolat Eogan, Ohio, and completed thecourse of study in 1871. He then en-gaged in school teaching, contiiuiingin that profession 16 jears. In 1884he was ordained a minister of the Gos-pel in the Brethren church, in the in-terest of which church h
