Globular star cluster NGC 362. NGC 362 (yellow, upper right) is a typical example of the many globular star clusters that make up the halo around the Milky Way. Globular clusters are spherical groups of very old stars, about 12 billion years old, that are tightly bound by gravity and orbit a dense central core. NGC 362 is found at a distance of some 30,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Tucana.
