Megacerops, illustration. Formerly known as Brontotherium, this extinct prehistoric mammal is an example of a brontothere, animals related to both horses and rhinoceroses. Megacerops was a large animal, reaching a body length of around 5 metres. It lived from 38 to 34 million years ago, during the Late Eocene. Its fossils have been found in North America.
