Built between 1596 and 1619 by the Jesuit Order, who had been bought into the city by King Zygmunt III Wasa to fight the Reformation. Constructed in Baroque style, it was modelled on the Il Gesu church in Rome. The original twelve apostles sculptures were by David Heel, but the present ones are copies by Kazimierz Jeczmyk. The building contains the m high Foucault pendulum, which demonstrates the rotational movement of the earth.
