In thefortieth year of his age he accepted a call from thecongregation of St. Moritz in his native himself in strained relations with thetheologians of Augsburg, owing to the zeal withwhich he advocated Lutheran theology, Forsterlived for a time in literary retirement, first atNuremberg and then at Ratisbon. In 1543 heaccepted a call to Schlensingen. He came to hiskingdom, however, when, on the death of CasparCruciger in 1548, he was made Professor of Hebrewat Wittenberg, where he spent eight of the mostuseful years of his life, and where he died in 1556. 74.
