Thus this writer shows a de- velopment in the tradition. The tliird, which is the appear- ance of the young man at the tomb, has a number of variationsin Luke and :.^tthew. The fourth has to do with the descentinto Hades, which arose to meet a theological need and v/hichmust be considered unhistorical. The fifth section deals with the /iscension. Of this we have in early literature. 17. only two full accounts - in Acts and in the Gospel of tne other documents we have no definite description ofthe event, tho in John and the longer conclusion of :..ark wehave references to it. From Vark 14:27 and 16:^ ve learnthat the original conclusion of I/-ark told of the flight ofthe disciples into G-alilee and of the appearances of Tesusthere. In :.atthpw and John (21) we have the appearancesin Galilee - the same as those of which have been lost. In to these parallels in the Gospelthere is much found in one writer which is not recorded byanother. In relation to the resurrection there are fivesuch to be found in Latthew: 1) the resurrection of the manysaints - ulattnew 27:52.
