View N of Dun Dornaigil Iron Age broch on the edge of a terrace above the Strathmore River S of Loch Hope, Sutherland, Scotland, UK, showing the gradual backwards slope (batter) of the wall. The external diameter of the round tower is some , the double-skinned wall up to thick around a circular central court. The outer wall survives to (22ft) over the entrance passage at the NE but the inner skin has fallen; the rest of the double wall stands to around There were chambers, stairs & galleries within the hollow wall & the tower may have once stood to some 14m (46ft), twice its current height. The entrance passage is blocked, the interior of the broch filled with fallen masonry.
