The old Academy building was accidentally consmnedby lire, January 13, 1876, and during the followingseason the present large, well built, and commodiousschool buildinof was erected for the District at a cost ofabout $11,000, by J. C. Kice, upon the same site. Itsdimensions are sixty by ninety feet, two stories high,modern build. The interior has seven main rooms, orDepartments. The school is at present in a flourishingcondition, and stands well among similar institutions ofthe State. It costs from $2,500 to $3,000 a year to runit.
