A model 1742 Prussian hussar's sabre,Slightly curved, somewhat shortened blade à la Montmorency, stamped on one side "Potzdam",the other face with a very early(before 1750)eagle mark. Brass knuckle-bow hilt with leather-covered grip, attached sword knot. The blade somewhat stained and rusty in places. Length 91 cm. Although a specific field service sidearm for Prussian hussar officers did not exist for a long period of time, the offered piece might be distinguished as such because of its brass hilt.
