A man is seen praying at the Erawan shrine before placing his merits near the statue. The Hindu Erawan shrine, popular for both Thai and tourists wanting to do a prayer and merit, was built in 1956. The shrine was built by the Erawan Hotel to eliminate bad luck. This is the largest shrine housing Phra Phrom, the Thai representation of the Hindu god Brahma.
