After the Sioux were defeated they referred to Harney as the 'Woman Killer.' Sherman first served as a Union General in the Civil War, and received recognition for his outstanding military strategy. He served under Ulysses S. Grant in 1862 and 1863 during the Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg.
