Tsunami computer simulation. Scientists using computer-aided design to run a three- dimensional computer simulation of a giant wave (tsunami) off the coast of Portugal in 1755. The computer screens show the seismograph of the earthquake that created the tsunami (at centre) and the spreading wave on a map (at centre right). This computer model was designed as part of the international Genesis and Impact of Tsunamis on European Coasts (GITEC) project to assess the effects of possible tsunamis in the near future.
