The second ring is verysmall and thin ; it is, in fact, a narrowmembrane, stationed at the foot of thefirst ring, and cut into an indefinitenumber of fine narrow sharp-pointedsegments. This ring was overlooked byDe Beauvois. The third ring is mem-branous, but erect, and assuming theform of a cup, whose edge is cut into.
