First Space Shuttle flight. Car park and the public viewing area (left) for the landing of the STS-1 space shuttle mission. STS-1 was the first orbital flight of NASA's Space Shuttle program. Columbia launched on 12th April 1981 and returned to Earth on 14th April, having orbited the Earth 37 times during the mission. Photographed at Edwards Air Force Base in the Rogers Dry Lake, Mojave Desert, California, USA, on 14th April 1981.
