Seismic damper in Torre Mayor building Mexico City.

Building Manager Felipe Flores looks out the 41st floor of the Torre Mayor building next to a large seismic damper. The damper was build by Taylor Devices in NY and has a piston inside and two chambers filled with silicone gel. In an earthquake the damper absorbs most of the energy of the quake making the 55 story building very safe even though it is built on a mud with no bedrock. The building is 62 percent occupied.
