Cirkelbroen, The Circle Bridge spanning Christianshavn Canal in Copenhagen. The pedestrian bridge consists of five different sized circular platforms topped by tall masts and thin steel cables extending from the top of the masts or pylons to the railings. The bridge is a gift from the Nordea Foundation to the city of Copenhagen and is designed by the Danish-Islandic artist Olafur Eliasson. The bridge makes everyday commuting life easier for biking commuters and pedestrians as it connects the Copenhagen areas Christiansbro and Appelbys Plads. The unusual construction may even slow down the cyclists for a short while, perhaps they will meet and meet talk, or enjoy the spectacular bridge and surroundings. This kind of urban space for breaks and meetings was mentioned in the speech by Olafur Eliasson at the opening ceremony.
