A collection ofRoman antiquities found iu or near the town has beenformed near the castle. The most prominent building inthe new town is the Tergesteo, a huge edifice containingthe exchange and numerous shops and offices. The newmunicipal buildings, with the handsome hall of the pro-vincial diet, the Palazzo Revoltella, the offices of theAustrian Lloyds, and the handsome old exchange arealso noteworthy.
