Windsor, UK. 24th November, 2022. Tragically an outbreak of avian influenza has hit the Windsor flock of swans on the River Thames. In the past week over 50 dead swans have been taken away by local swan rescue charity, Swan Support. Signs have been put up by Trading Standards asking locals and visitors not to feed the swans or any other wild birds by the River Thames. Sadly some people are ignoring the advice and thereby risking a further spread of bird flu as the swans all congregate together when they are fed. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy Live News

Sadly some people are ignoring the advice and thereby risking a further spread of bird flu as the swans all congregate together when they are fed. Some of the remaining swans are coming out of the water in search of food so people are being asked to keep their dogs on leads so that the swans don't get attacked or killed by dogs.
