As a rule they are made up by the growers in Holland out of cheap, undesirable or surplus lots, and little attention given to variety of color or time- of flowering. We import each season a large quantity of selected bulbs of the best-named varieties to make this superb mixture. It contains a carefully balanced range of colors, and must not be compared with mixtures as usually sent out, and notwithstand- ing the great care to make this the finest mixture, we are in a position to offer it at a price usually charged for a very inferior grade. 35 cts. per doz.; $ per 100; $ per 1000. Collections of Tulips for Beds What we say on page 5 about the Hyacinth as a bedding plant is equally true of the Tulip. Many brilliant color effects are pos- sible with Tulips that cannot be produced with any other plant. The culture is the same as for the Hyacinths, only, being perfectly hardy, they do not require to be covered so heavily through the winter, but merely enough to keep the action of the frost from throwing them out of place.
