He daddies many of the Universalstars under the direction of Carleton, Cleo Madison,Worthing, Hunt and others. Mr. Witting is a goodhorseman and long distance swimmer. His height isfive feet ten and a half inches, weight one hundred andeighty-five pounds, brown hair, blue eyes, and mediumcomplexion. He was born in M ATTIE Day Witting, known on the dramatic stage as Mattie Davis, is now playing difficult character leads with Universal companies. She recently appeared in The Day of Reckoning; as Mrs. Mayer, the mother, in Shoes; Mrs. Allison in A Family Secret, and other releases. This character woman is a native of Knoxville,Iowa. Since 1892 she has played everything fromingenue parts to character leads in stock and road com-panies in the East and Middle West, and in the PacificCoast states. For a short time in 1914 she worked inpictures, only to return to the legitimate stage, andhas been with the Universal for the past several received her education in Wisconsin, and, with herhusband, holds the record for playing together continuously since theirjmarriage twenty-four years ago. She has the distinction ofbeing an excellent cook, and by all is spoken of as a delightful companion. Mrs. Witting is five feet five and a half inches
