While with General Averell on the Salem Raidthe old Ringgolds marched 375 miles. On another marchwe travelled over 800 miles. This was the time we wereestablishing civil law in West Virginia. When we left Beallsville there were seventy men inour company. These men were mustered in at Grafton,June 29, 1861. Afterward there were one hundred moremen enrolled in the company. In Chapter XXX. TheOld Ringgolds we give first the names of the seventy menwho entered the service June 29, 1861. Then followingthis the names of all who enlisted afterward.
