The Secretary later laid a wreath in honor of Sailors and Marines at the statue. The Lone Sailor Memorial at Vista Point Outlook on the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge offers scenic views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and historic Alcatraz prison. The 7-foot tall and 800 pounds of bronze-statue stand with his seabag facing the Bridge. The statue is surrounded by four bronze relief sculptures depicting the sea services from maritime history.
