Already this phase of thework has been utilized by a number of companies in the district, and enquiriesare now being received from outside mining camps. Re Stores Department—Purchases and Issues Year 1918-19 Statement following shows summary of purchases and issues for fiscal yearended October 31st, 1919. In no previous jear has the business been so great, amounting to a turnoverof over ten thousand dollars per day for every working day in the year. Shop stock purchases and issues both show a decrease. The margin ofdifference between purchases and issues is to a considerable extent made up ofpoles, cross arms, Edison battery cells, car motors, and coaling plant, purchasedfor various departments, but still in stores stock. Soft coal shows a heavy margin of issues over receipts, resulting in a largedecrease in our reserve stock—too large. Coal strike at the mines had a seriouseffect on deliveries. At our distance from the mines a three to five month reserve would appearto be a reasonable safety first precaution—with a part of this reserve atEiigle
