PANTHEON, STOURHEAD PARK, Stourton, Wiltshire. The gardens at Stourhead were landscaped by Henry Hoare II in 1741-1780, and included the creation of a large lake. The Pantheon, designed by Henry Flitcroft around 1753, was one of several garden structures designed as eye-catchers. Photographed by Eric de Mare between 1945 and 1980.
