During World War I, a lifeboat drill took place aboard the George Washington. The ship was carrying President Woodrow Wilson and his party to Brest, France. The photograph captures the activity, and it was taken on December 1918, denoted by the symbol NUMBER 63186. It was later received on February 19, 1921, and issued by the Signal Corps.
